The short version

We only collect what we need to run your account and server.
We never sell it. No tracking, ads or analytics.
Ask us anytime to see or delete your data.

Bardsen Hosting is run by one person in Norway, who is responsible for your data.

What we collect and why

Your account: name, email and password (stored scrambled). With Google or Discord sign-in, we only use your name and verified email. You also get a matching game panel account. Why: to give you an account.
Billing details: address, country and company, only if you add them. Why: they go on your invoices.
Orders and servers: what you ordered and when. Why: to deliver it.
Support: your tickets and emails. Why: to help you.
Security log: IP address, browser type and sign-in times. Why: to keep accounts safe and stop spam sign-ups.
Email log: copies of the emails we send you. Why: to check they arrived.
Your game server: your files and server logs, which show the names and IP addresses of players who join. Why: it's the service you ordered.

Most of this is needed for our deal with you. The logs, backups and alerts keep things safe, and you can object to those.

Who else handles it

Apple (iCloud Mail) sends and receives our email.
Google or Discord, if you sign in with them.
Discord also carries our private alerts: your name when you order or open a ticket, and your message when you reply.
Gravatar and UI Avatars draw your profile picture from a scrambled form of your email (shop) or your username (panel).
Mojang and Modrinth, when you use the panel's Players, Mods or Modpacks pages: the player names you type and the packs you pick are looked up there. Game and loader downloads come from their official sites.
Let's Encrypt issues our HTTPS certificates and healthchecks.io gets a heartbeat from our server; neither sees anything about you.

Most are US companies, so your data may leave Europe, protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the EU's standard contract clauses (ask us for a copy). Everything else stays on our server in Norway.

How long we keep it

Account, orders, tickets and security log: while you have an account.
Email log, and the game panel's activity log (with IP addresses): 90 days.
Your server's files and panel backups: deleted when your server ends.
Our system backups (every 6 hours, encrypted, to a disk kept with the server): deleted data is gone from them within 12 months.

Cookies

We only use the cookies the shop and game panel need: to keep you signed in and protect forms (2 hours without use), remember your cart (30 days), and for "Remember me" (30 days in the shop, longer on the panel).

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your data, to limit how we use it, or to object to it. Email support@bardsen.gg and we'll answer within 30 days. Not happy? Complain to Datatilsynet (the Norwegian Data Protection Authority).
